Bed Bugs treatment in Chicago

Discreet, thorough bed bug treatment for Chicago apartments, condos and single-family homes.

Bed bugs are 4–5mm long and feed by biting humans and drawing blood. Their bites rarely wake a sleeping person, but they leave large, itchy welts. They find you by the CO₂ you exhale, not by body heat.

A bed bug lives about 10 months and can survive as long as 8 months without a single feeding, which is why an infestation almost never resolves on its own. A female can lay up to five eggs a day and roughly 500 over her lifetime.

They travel on clothing, luggage, furniture and bedding. Planes, trains and buses move them across the city fast, and in a building with shared walls they spread unit to unit through outlets, baseboards and pipe chases. In Chicago's dense three-flats and high-rises, treating a single unit without checking the neighbours is usually how people end up paying twice.

We inspect the unit, confirm the extent of the infestation, and treat with a prep-and-treat protocol. Preparation by the resident matters enormously here — a well-prepped unit gets a far better result on the first visit.

Signs you have bed bugs

  • Rows or clusters of itchy welts that appear overnight
  • Small rust-coloured blood spots on sheets and mattress seams
  • Dark specks of faecal staining along seams, headboards and baseboards
  • Shed amber-coloured skins near the mattress or box spring
  • A sweet, musty odour in heavily infested rooms

How we treat them

  • Full inspection of beds, upholstery, baseboards and adjoining rooms
  • Written preparation checklist for the resident before treatment day
  • Targeted application to harbourage points — seams, frames, voids, baseboards
  • Follow-up visit to catch newly hatched nymphs
  • Priced in full before treatment day — no add-ons after the fact

Common questions

How should I prepare for a bed bug treatment?

Disassemble beds and wash all bedding on hot with a high-heat dry, then bag it. Empty bedrooms and closets, wash all clothing and linens the same way and store them in sealed containers. Vacuum floors, furniture, closets, drawers, mattresses and box springs, then dispose of the vacuum bag outdoors. Pull furniture roughly three feet off the walls and pull carpet edges back where you can. We give you the full checklist when you book.

Can I stay in my home during treatment?

You will need to be out of the treated rooms while we work and for the re-entry window we specify on the day. We will tell you exactly how long before we start.

Will one treatment be enough?

Usually not. Eggs are not affected the way live bugs are, so we plan a follow-up to catch what hatches after the first visit. That follow-up is part of the job, not an upsell.

  • We identify the species properly before quoting anything
  • The job is priced before the work starts, and agreed with you first
  • Specialists in moths in wool, silk, cashmere and fine rugs
  • Organic and IPM-led options, safe around children and pets
